Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 2 Whisk or Spoon
  • 3 Non-stick pan or tawa
  • 4 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 5 Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Batter

  • Take a mixing bowl and add sourdough discard, flour, and milk. Mix well until smooth. Make sure there are no lumps.

Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients

  • Now add egg and melted butter or oil. Mix again gently. This will make your batter soft and smooth.

Step 3: Add Dry Ingredients

  • Add sugar, salt, and baking soda. Mix lightly. Do not overmix, or your pancakes may become hard.

Step 4: Heat the Pan

  • Place a pan or tawa on medium heat. Lightly grease it with oil or butter.

Step 5: Cook the Pancakes

  • Pour a small amount of batter onto the pan. Cook for 1–2 minutes until bubbles appear on top. Flip and cook the other side.

Step 6: Serve Hot

  • Remove from the pan and serve warm with honey, butter, or fruits.

Notes

Use fresh sourdough discard for best flavor and mild tanginess. Adjust batter consistency with milk for soft pancakes. Cook on medium heat to avoid burning. Do not overmix, as it makes pancakes dense. You can add fruits, chocolate chips, or spices for variation. Always serve hot for the best taste and texture.
