Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 500 grams chicken curry cut pieces
  • 2 medium onions finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes pureed
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 green chili optional
  • Salt as per taste

Spices

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper powder

Optional Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons fresh cream
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • ½ cup curd for marination

Instructions
 

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

  • Take chicken pieces in a bowl. Add salt, turmeric, chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, and curd. Mix well. Cover and keep it for at least 30 minutes. Marination makes chicken soft and juicy.

Step 2: Cook the Onions

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions. Cook until golden brown. Do not burn them. Brown onions give a nice flavor.

Step 3: Add Ginger-Garlic and Tomatoes

  • Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute. Now add tomato puree. Cook until oil separates from the masala.

Step 4: Add Spices

  • Add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well. Cook for 2–3 minutes.

Step 5: Add Chicken

  • Add marinated chicken pieces. Mix well with the masala. Cook on medium flame for 5–7 minutes.

Step 6: Add Water

  • Add 1 cup of water for gravy. Cover and cook for 15–20 minutes until chicken becomes tender.

Step 7: Final Touch

  • Add garam masala and black pepper. Cook for 2 more minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Add cream if you want a rich taste.
