Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Meat

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and sausage. Cook until brown. Break the meat into small pieces using a spoon. Remove extra fat if needed.

Step 2: Add Vegetables

  • Add chopped onion and bell peppers. Cook for 4–5 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  • The kitchen will start smelling amazing at this stage.

Step 3: Add Spices

  • Now add chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well. Cook the spices with meat for 1–2 minutes. This step makes the flavor stronger.

Step 4: Add Tomatoes and Beans

  • Pour crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce into the pot. Add kidney beans and black beans. Mix everything nicely.

Step 5: Add Supercharged Ingredients

  • Add cocoa powder, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. These ingredients give the chili a deep, rich, and slightly sweet balance.
  • Do not worry — cocoa powder will not make it sweet. It makes the flavor deeper and richer.

Step 6: Add Broth and Simmer

  • Pour beef broth into the pot. Stir well. Bring to a light boil, then reduce heat to low.
  • Cover the pot and let it simmer for at least 30–40 minutes. If you have time, cook for 1 hour. Stir occasionally.
