Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowls
  • 2 Fork or potato masher (for mashing bananas)
  • 3 Measuring cups and spoons
  • 4 Whisk or spatula
  • 5 9×5 inch loaf pan
  • 6 Oven
  • 7 Cooling rack
  • 8 Knife (for slicing)

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas the riper, the better
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup sugar white or brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Optional Ingredients

  • You can add extra ingredients to enhance flavor and texture:
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or almonds
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup yogurt or milk for extra moisture

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Mash the Bananas

  • Peel the ripe bananas and place them in a large mixing bowl. Use a fork or potato masher to mash them until smooth. A few small lumps are fine.

Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Add melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix everything well until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.

Step 4: Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently to distribute the ingredients evenly.

Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture. Mix slowly until everything is combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the bread dense.
  • If you are adding nuts or chocolate chips, fold them in at this stage.

Step 6: Pour the Batter

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.

Step 7: Bake the Banana Bread

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50–60 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the center of the bread. If it comes out clean, the banana bread is ready.

Step 8: Cool Before Serving

  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack. Let it cool completely before slicing.
  • Your homemade banana bread is now ready to enjoy.
